How To Worm like a Pro

Worming is a time-tested technique, the "old reliable" for catching fish year-round in almost any body of water with absolute success!

Fishing a worm on an Extra Wide Gap (EWG) hook is pretty straightforward. Cast as far as you can toward cover or open water where you think there's some submerged vegetation. After casting, let the worm's weight carry it to the bottom. You may not always "feel" it hit bottom, but if you watch where your line and the water meet, you'll see the "wake" around the line stop once it reaches bottom. Once it's on the bottom, lift your rod tip about 6 to 12 inches and reel a few times. Let it sink again and repeat!

You'll know a bite when you feel a sharp "THUD" on your rod. When you feel this thud, react quickly and set the hook HARD, a hard hookset is essential with almost any single-hook and even with the Nano Alpha Coating on these Gamakatsu Hooks, a hard hookset is a must. Keep tension on the line all the way through the retrieve and that fish is yours!

Wormin' is about as "simple" as soft plastic fishing gets, but don't let that fool you—it's easily the most broadly effective and most experimented technique around the world so p[lay with it and try some different things! Who knows what might bring you success! Tight Lines!
